Our Directors, Kirsty and Kevin, were delighted to attend the City Wire New Model Adviser event in London, where Watson Wood were nominated for Best Adviser Firm for Scotland and Northern Ireland, once again. We were honoured to be nominated alongside some fantastic Financial Planning firms from the region. Scotland has a great tradition of being at the forefront of the financial planning profession and the great firms we now have providing outstanding services to their clients continues this trend. We were happy to even be nominated amongst some outstanding peers.

Over two days, they had the opportunity to meet with nine different investment teams, sharing insights on current market trends and exploring investment options available to us. These discussions are invaluable in helping us refine our approach and continue providing the best possible service to our clients.

Well done . Please keep up the good work.

Our financial planner, Shelley, has been working with Millburn Academy’s S6 pupils to help them build a strong foundation in financial literacy. Through the My Personal Finance Skills workshops, she’s been guiding students through essential topics like loans, mortgages, and making informed financial decisions—knowledge that will benefit them long after they leave school.

Financial education is a vital life skill, and it’s great to see students engaging with practical concepts that will prepare them for the future. Shelley’s sessions focus on building confidence and understanding in key areas like borrowing and long-term financial planning.

This is brilliant. This is the most important thing kids can be taught. Have always said there needs to be this kind of education brought in to all schools nation wide. Well done Shelley and co 👌

As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on what has been a truly rewarding year at Watson Wood Financial Planning and looking forward to the opportunities 2025 will bring.

This year began with recognition as IFA of the Year for Scotland & Northern Ireland by Citywire, a fantastic achievement celebrated by Kirsty and Kevin at the awards ceremony in London. We were also proud to be included in the Citywire Top 100 IFAs across the UK and to see Kirsty Watson nominated for Woman of the Year – Investment Advice by Professional Adviser.

We expanded our Inverness office early in the year, creating a larger, more functional space to accommodate our growing team and better serve our clients. Our team also celebrated some significant milestones, including exam successes for Jayne Duthie, Jason Florence, and Shelley McMillan, whose achievements now enable her to assist clients with long-term care planning. On a personal note, we celebrated Kirsty Innes’ wedding and Kelly Gammack welcoming her second child.

Giving back to the community has remained a priority for us. We supported local schools through careers events and lessons about investment management, and we contributed to Cash for Kids by volunteering, hosting a bake sale, and donating toys to help brighten Christmas for families in need.

As we move into 2025, we’re excited to welcome new team members and continue developing projects to enhance the services we offer. For now, we’re taking time to relax, reflect, and enjoy time with our families.

Wishing our clients, colleagues, and community a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Our recent bake sale was a huge success, raising much needed funds for MFR Mission Christmas. A massive thank you to all the businesses and individuals who supported us with donations and well done to the Watson Wood team and their family for their baking efforts.

As part of this effort, some of the team also had the privilege of volunteering to help pack presents for the children. It was a reminder to us all the impact we can have by working together to help support those in need this festive season.

There’s still time to donate if you’d like to get involved—every little bit counts! Please see the Cash For Kids website for details on drop off locations.

Shame I am not closer Kirsty Watson!

It's been an exciting few weeks here at Watson Wood. Last week we learned we have made the top 100 advice firms in the UK through Citywire New Model Adviser for the second year running.

In addition to this Kirsty Watson was recently a finalist in the Professional Adviser, Women in Finance Awards 2024. Kirsty was shortlisted for the award "Woman of the Year - Investment Advice".

It's fantastic to be recognised externally for what we do for our clients.
