Former pupil Kirsty spoke about some memories of her school days and her path from Elgin Academy to the role she does now. Today we celebrate International Women's Day

Did you know that despite several regime shifts to encourage more female Financial Advisers within the industry a freedom of information request submitted last year by FTAdviser found that only 1 in 6 Financial Advisers are female.

As a firm we are proud to take a proactive approach to supporting the professional development of young women in financial advice. We certainly do not fall within the statistic of 1 in 6. In fact 5 of our 8 planning team are women with 2 of them being Financial Advisers.

Kirsty Watson - Financial Adviser and Director at Watson Wood started Watson Wood Financial Planning along with our other 2 directors 7 years ago. Kirsty has worked in the financial advice industry for over 24 years.

Shelley McMillan - Financial Adviser joined Watson Wood in 2022 making the move from a national wealth advice firm. Shelley has worked in the finance industry for over 18 years.

We are recruiting for a Trainee Administrator aimed at a school or college leaver. The role would suit someone wanting to start a career in Financial Services, as an Administrator or starting the journey to become a Financial Adviser. An equivalent career progression that someone might take if wanting to go into accountancy.

We are looking to interview in the coming weeks however, can be flexible with start dates, we are aware that some students may be sitting exams into May.

Please contact Christina@watsonwoodfp.co.uk for further information.

Last week our directors Kevin and Kirsty were invited to the Citywire New Model Adviser awards in London where Watson Wood Financial Planning had been nominated for β€œIndependent Financial Adviser of the year, Scotland and Northern Ireland”. The winner was decided by an independent panel of judges who use a scoring criteria after reading a firm's core values and processes.

We are delighted to confirm that we won our category on the night. This is down to the hard work of all of our team at Watson Wood Financial Planning. Thank you also to our clients and professional connections for your continued support.
