As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on what has been a truly rewarding year at Watson Wood Financial Planning and looking forward to the opportunities 2025 will bring.

This year began with recognition as IFA of the Year for Scotland & Northern Ireland by Citywire, a fantastic achievement celebrated by Kirsty and Kevin at the awards ceremony in London. We were also proud to be included in the Citywire Top 100 IFAs across the UK and to see Kirsty Watson nominated for Woman of the Year – Investment Advice by Professional Adviser.

We expanded our Inverness office early in the year, creating a larger, more functional space to accommodate our growing team and better serve our clients. Our team also celebrated some significant milestones, including exam successes for Jayne Duthie, Jason Florence, and Shelley McMillan, whose achievements now enable her to assist clients with long-term care planning. On a personal note, we celebrated Kirsty Innes’ wedding and Kelly Gammack welcoming her second child.

Giving back to the community has remained a priority for us. We supported local schools through careers events and lessons about investment management, and we contributed to Cash for Kids by volunteering, hosting a bake sale, and donating toys to help brighten Christmas for families in need.

As we move into 2025, we’re excited to welcome new team members and continue developing projects to enhance the services we offer. For now, we’re taking time to relax, reflect, and enjoy time with our families.

Wishing our clients, colleagues, and community a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Our recent bake sale was a huge success, raising much needed funds for MFR Mission Christmas. A massive thank you to all the businesses and individuals who supported us with donations and well done to the Watson Wood team and their family for their baking efforts.

As part of this effort, some of the team also had the privilege of volunteering to help pack presents for the children. It was a reminder to us all the impact we can have by working together to help support those in need this festive season.

There’s still time to donate if you’d like to get involved—every little bit counts! Please see the Cash For Kids website for details on drop off locations.

Shame I am not closer Kirsty Watson!

It's been an exciting few weeks here at Watson Wood. Last week we learned we have made the top 100 advice firms in the UK through Citywire New Model Adviser for the second year running.

In addition to this Kirsty Watson was recently a finalist in the Professional Adviser, Women in Finance Awards 2024. Kirsty was shortlisted for the award "Woman of the Year - Investment Advice".

It's fantastic to be recognised externally for what we do for our clients.

Good to see all hard work receiving recognition. Installs good faith for us as clients. 😊😊

Last week, Jayne passed the last of the exams needed to achieve her Diploma in Regulated Financial Planning through the Chartered Institute of Insurance.

To achieve this qualification, Jayne needed to pass exams in a number of areas, including regulation, personal taxation, trusts, investments, pensions and protection. After passing exams on each of these topics, she then needed to pass a further exam to test her ability to pull this knowledge together within a client case study.

We are delighted to see all of Jayne's hard work pay off. In the coming weeks, months and years we are sure that this knowledge will be put to good use in helping clients meet their goals and objectives. Well done Jayne!

Well done Jayne x

Kirsty Innes joined Watson Wood within the first year of the firm starting up following on from successfully completing her degree. Since then, not only has Kirsty developed professionally and become an important member of the planning team but it has been wonderful to see her life develop away from work.

Last year, Kirsty and Matthew welcomed baby Albie and recently they were married at Achnagairn Castle near Inverness. Everyone at WW would like to congratulate the new Mr and Mrs Whitefoot and wish them all the very best.

It’s been a busy few weeks for Kevin and Kirsty.

Firstly, they attended the New Model Adviser event in Surrey where they heard updates from various fund managers over two days, in addition to political commentator Jon Sopel – very insightful. They were also able to share best practice with similar firms and take back valuable findings to the Watson Wood offices.

Then, last week, they were delighted to be able to attend a careers event at Elgin Academy again, discussing careers with the students and telling them about Watson Wood and what we do. This allowed them to highlight why a career in financial services can be rewarding and enjoyable.
